Its never a good thing when the guy behind the reason we buy Mac's leaves. :(
For the user who mentioned that he was behind OS X flaws (you mentioned iTunes bloat) - you are wrong. iTunes isn't run directly by the Mac OS development team, it has its own department. There's probably a little crossover however generally he wouldn't have much input on iTunes.
It is kind of sad but I'm sure Apple will do okay. And there are a bunch of reasons why I buy Macs. Software is a big part but the design was another (having solidly built hardware is nice). If software was the only reason I'd be using Windows because at this point Windows 7 isn't bad and they frankly have more software for less (the Mac App Store game section compared to Steam is a great example of how little software there is and how we're generally getting ripped off...it isn't just games with this problem either).

FACT: Apple doesn't access the database cache
Is that a fact because Apple said so? Or because someone can actually prove it?
Their software patents would at least suggest they planned on using it.

As a possible new ATT iPhone customer, now there are only two choices for text plans......
Unlimited or None, how's that for an upsell
There's also $10 for 1000 messages.

Yep, that's what I think. He should have been interrogated, but not with "enhanced" methods.
But don't you think there is a difference between your typical criminal/murderer, and someone like KSM who is a terrorist leader/organizer and has first hand knowledge of terrorist networks?
Seriously, I somehow doubt that asking him nicely to tell us what he knows would have worked.

Danke sehr. Thanks for the time and effort to get back to me with a response that looks at things from a 'real world' perspective. Your points are issues which I have not even considered before.
Everybody else -
Thank you kindly for taking the time to get back to me. All points noted and considered.
Since doing a little more research into it and taking the comments on this forum into account I have changed my opinion on whether or not macs should form part of our IT infrastructure. It would seem that the real world problems of planning for the future, ensuring user productivity and product support, not to mention the capital outlay issues are going to trump any warm fuzzy feelings that I may get from working with my mac at home. Being an engineering firm, the majority of our specialist software is, for the foreseeable future, going to be written for Windows only.
Most importantly then, the positive user experience I have at home will almost certainly not carry over to the workplace and will more than likely only generate further frustration for other non-mac users. I currently have enough trouble simply trying to ensure compatibility between Excel '07 files and Excel '03. Adding Excel for Mac files into the mix will no doubt simply introduce another layer of complexity which is certainly not beneficial. This is indicative of many of the 'small' problems that are typically faced every day in the office, again, no thank you to having any more of those.
While I wish the warm fuzzy feeling I get from using my mac at home could be translated into my working day experience, the fact of the matter at the moment is that facilitating this is just not practical or feasible and in a mixed PC / MAC environment not very likely to happen.
The fanboy in me hopes that someday this will get sorted out, but I am not going to hold my breath.

Thanks for the reality check, and I could not agree more with your take with respect to the the ways of the world and the importance of the real world concerns of IT people. IT is a department that I have never worked in, hence me posting on this forum to get some views on the topic at hand.
I spend all day writing reports, specifications, data sheets, e-mails to clients and suppliers etc. All of which require dotting every I and crossing every T from a grammar point of view. I am not going to waste my time ensuring my grammar is perfect on a forum post... seriously bru - not helpful at all.

That's true: soda/chips not loss leaders but maintained by rack jobbers.
You could be right. I had heard from a guy who worked for a Coke distributor that there wasn't much margin on pop so when it's on sale, it's at a loss for the grocer. I drink a lot of Diet Coke so I thought he could get me a deal on a pallet, lol.
BTW- My grocery store has had Diet Coke 12 packs on sale for $1.79 with a $25 purchase so the price controls for grocers can't be THAT strict :)

Yeah, MAY have. That's hypothetical.
But it was treason. There is a good reason that was a capital offense. The scale of death and misery that can be dealt through effective treason is far greater than than even a spray of bullets. If you support capital punishment, you should be in favor of hanging a traitor.
For that matter, why not Madoff? The effects of his mischief harmed far more people than even Manning. Why should he be spared the chair?

I believe you are all missing the point.
The studios want HDCP over DVI and HDMI or whatever. There are no current systems that properly use it, even if they say they do, because the licenses or permissions have not been distributed yet and they are HARDWARE objects.
HARDWARE is Apple's forte.
I suspect iTV is actually a series of devices that properly implement HDCP to suit the studios that demand seamless and enforceable content protection. As mentioned, mainly to protect the asset of a time sensitive and expensive major movie release.
There are really only two premium price revenue timeframes for movies. A few weeks after theatrical release and a few months after DVD (now online) release. They simply want to protect the "premiumness" of the price.
Apple does that in computers with methods to try to prevent installation and proper use of OSX on any computer but an Apple. It mainly works.
So I suspect we will see a "new" video iPod and iTV as a breakout box for your existing TV, and iTV enabled LCD TV's in the "media release".
Then no studio will hesitate.

In the full interview, Jobs discusses why it took Apple nearly a week to respond to the issue, noting that the company needed to take the time to investigate the situation and figure out how best to relate the information to the public.
What a load of crap, they've always tracked users, as have all the other makers. This is not unique to Apple, nor is it unique to any smartphone brand or model.
The only surprise would be to those who do not read the EULA.
You bought it, you signed for it, you had a chance to read the EULA.
If you failed to, because "it was too long and complicated" sorry but that's on you.
Me?
I could give a flip, it's part of the connected web experience of my daily life. I don't have anything to hide and even if I did, there's no hiding anything these days anyway.
Anyone thinking differently, is either going to one hell of a lot of trouble to hide, or is simply in denial.

In the U.S. complaint, Samsung accuses Apple of violating patents that "relate to fundamental innovations that increase mobile device reliability, efficiency, and quality, and improve user interface in mobile handsets and other products.
LOL
Can that be any more VAGUE?! They might as well be suing for the fact that samsung made phones before apple.
Anyone who thinks Apple's reason to sue was bad should just look at that!
Do you realize the complaint goes into WAY more detail about how Apple has apparently infringed on their patents?
Do you realize you are quoting a summary in an article?

thanks for continuing to screw us 3gS owners over Apple...
My phone is on its last leg, dropping calls all of the time, have to charge it 3 times a day. If I had known this, I would have already bought a 4...
Blaming Apple is pointless. If your phone isn't working to your satisfaction, get it repaired or purchase a new phone. 3gS is still working very well as a product, my roommate has one and has no complaints about its functionality, nor do a lot of 3gs users. Anticipating on technology companies to be consistent is a wasted guessing game.
I hardly think that Apple is specifically targeting 3gS users to bend over and get screwed. There is more going on globally this year which tends to affect how companies anticipate product releases.

Agreed that this app is definitely worth checking out, if only for the amazing more-apple-than-apple GUI! But as DR Q pointed out before this is a thread for freeware apps and at $40 Delicious Library doesn't quite fall into that category.
Actually you can try it for free and it's fully functional as long as you only have 25 items in your library.
