I am in the same situation...my 6th yr H1 expires on Feb 2008. I am really hoping that I will get an EAD before my H1 expiration. But if I dont get an EAD on time then I will apply for recapturing my time outside USA. I travel overseas a lot on business so basically i will need about 3months of time recaptured to meet the 1 yr prior labor approval for H1 extension. My PD is april 2007. Hope this helps and works out for you.

The idea is that they would add some or all of these other proposals, or even amnesty itself, to the SAVE act to make it unattractive to the original sponsors�thus killing it.
It is doubtful that anything other than amnesty would kill this legislation.
There is a serious risk for the Democrats in forcing their members to vote
down an amnesty bill. That would undoubtedly alienate one of their core
voter constituencies.
If the SAVE bill passes, the likely result is that support for legal immigration reform will increase substantially. A number of members of Congress have said that they support legal immigration reform, but first want to see new enforcement measures put into place"

Why would one get a LUD on an OLD h1 with no LUD on anything else?
Just got CRIS email/LUD (no status change) on an old h1b that had no status change since Oct 2004. No LUD on the I140/485 or anything else. Only thing that makes sense to me is that my H1b is about to expire on dec 10 so maybe it has to do with that?
Anyone else have a similar experience. it's a little nerve wrecking.

I too have the same question. Isnt EAD a non-immigrant status unlike H1B? So, how can one apply for GC on a non-immigrant status? I might be wrong though.

EAD is not a status. EAD is just Employment Authorization Document. I-485 pending (AoS Pending) is the status.

GC can, also, be applied for someone who is not even in US. Kind of status in US has nothing to do with GC process, as long as one is in valid (authorized) status.

My employer is moving office to new address.How will it effect my future GC process ?. Thanks in advance
If the company is moving within the same county then no issues.
If it's moving to a different state (or) to a different county within the same state, then refer the following thread

140/485 applied concurrently on July 23, 07 at TSC
140/485 Notice Date (from TSC): Sept 17, 07
Now, initially TSC had a processing time of 6 months for 140. They then changed it to a specific date later on. As of March 15, 08, it's about Aug 15, 07. Following the last few months' trend, my observation is that I might hear about my 140 sometime this month. However, it's just a guess - it might take longer.
When I call the USCIS (or even my attorney), I'm usually told that the dates on the site are just an estimate and even if my case is outside of the processing time according to their own web site, I can't speak with an immigration officer or do anything more about it. Is it true? I mean, say if I don't hear about my 140 this month at all and if the TSC processing time for 140 marches ahead well beyond Sept 17, 07 (my notice date), I can't even speak with an immigration officer?

Has anyone in Charlotte, NC got a extension on the Driver's license on the basis on the H1-B renewal application receipt.
My spouse's driver's license expires this month end. I have applied for h1-b/h4 renewal, yet to receive the application receipt.But wanted to know if anyone here in Charlotte,NC got a extension/grace (30days or 90days) on the basis of the receipt.

I applied for my PERM Labor Certification on 06-Aug-2007. My status online shows "APPROVED"on 13-Aug-2007. My Lawyer says that the HARD COPY is needed to move forward (My priority date is Jan-2006 from a prior Labor/I-140 approval).
1. How long does it usually take for the Hard copy to reach the attorney's office after approval.
2. Is there any way I can apply for I-140/485 by August 17th given that my status shows "APPROVED" as of today (August 14th).
Any suggestions?

Since your attorney is not filing (No G28 is filed when you DIY). I did this and I got approval for both EAD/AP in a month's time.

PD is Nov 2004 (transferred from a previous EB2 filing).

May be they want to approve your both I-140 and I-485, but I-485 may be missing something, so they issue an RFE. It may be the case that your I-140 can be approved. If it is as simple as Birth Certificate, then they may approve both your I-140 and I-1485 after you reply RFE.

It's a bit dark and I feel like it dead-ends at the doorway. I probably would've either walked forward a bit to get some of the road that looks like it's headed uphill (which would draw the eye in that direction) or I would've moved a little to the left to get a bit more of the road into the shot and show the hanging plant a little better. Moving a bit to the left might also have brought a little more light into the shot.

Take one month unpaid vacation. Packup your things. Send family home. Work for one or two weeks(stay in a motel or with friends), resign and go same day or next day.
This will reduce your anxiety about your future.
I am on my 2nd phase of H1B visa which is valid until 2012.
I want to quit my job and go back to my home country.
How long after I quit my job do I get to stay here to wrap up and ship my stuff??
Does that jeopardize my status? I plan to be here for about 30 days after quitting my job. WOuld that be ok? or is it overstaying?
If I ever need to apply for a tourist visa in future will this jeopardize my chances of getting a visa then?
